An easy way to organize your kitchen is by storing food in containers. If you’re looking to save time, money, and food, then read on as we provide you with 7 tips to make sure you have a well-organized kitchen.

1. Clean out what you don’t need

Throw away old food or expired products that are cluttering up your cabinets. You don’t want to lose storage space over something that won’t be used!

2. Organize your pantry

Group items together in large plastic bins or baskets (think cereal and crackers). This will help keep everything organized so nothing gets lost.

3. Containerize fruit, vegetables and meats

Storing fruits and vegetables like apples, carrots and potatoes separately from each other ensures that you can use each one before it spoils. Similarly, it’s also important to separate meat from other foods.

4. Label all items

It may seem obvious, but labeling all of your different foods (dairy versus protein) can go a long way towards organizing your kitchen effectively. Use clear labels to clearly identify each type of food.

5. Store leftovers properly

Leftovers should be stored in airtight Tupperware or similar containers so they can last longer. To avoid freezer burn, seal them tight before putting them in there. Divide frozen meals up into individual portions beforehand, too—it’ll make thawing easier later on.

6. Develop a system for frequently-used items

Many people store their silverware in an upright position within their drawers. But if you find yourself using silverware more often than others, consider keeping spoons and knives separate instead.

7. Make it work

Don’t feel discouraged if things aren’t working out immediately; some items will fit better than others.
